Lochmere Finalizes Deal to Acquire Swim & Tennis Facilities
February 24, 2011"The Board of the Lochmere Homeowner’s Association is pleased to announce that it has reached a definitive agreement with Wells Fargo/ Wachovia Bank to acquire the swim and tennis facilities formerly owned by the Lochmere Swim and Tennis Club. Both the Lochwood and Highlands properties are included in the deal. Terms of the agreement are not being disclosed at this time. The transition of ownership is planned to occur by early April.
After a successful vote this summer and fall, we encountered delays as the bank needed to proceed with its foreclosure activities and the Homeowner’s Association faced several legal hurdles before it could reach a definitive agreement.
The Board thanks all those who worked in a volunteer capacity to help this process along, as well as those who raised important community considerations on both the pro and con side of the debate. We look forward to operating these facilities, beginning this spring, for the benefit of the entire community.
A transition team is already up and running under Board guidance. It is planned to open both pools this summer and to continue with the tennis programs without interruption. Additional social activities will be added as well over time as they can be accommodated.
Per the vote last summer, the Association will be sending out invoices for the additional $260 in dues as soon as the closing occurs, again probably by early April."
