Apex, North Carolina is located on the Southwestern side of Wake County; the town borders Cary, NC to South and South West, and it borders Holly Springs, North Carolina to the Northside. Downtown is a 25 minute drive to Raleigh, 10 minute drive to Cary, 20 minute drive to Research Triangle Park, 20 minute drive RDU International Airport, and a 25 minute drive Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

The town history began around 1867 and was incorporated in 1873; the town is called Apex because it was the highest point on the Chatham Railroad between Richmond, Virginia and Jacksonville, Florida.
